Curatorial Walk-throughs: L.A. Open & Small Things

  • TAG Gallery 5458 Wilshire Boulevard Los Angeles, CA, 90036 United States (map)

Please join us on Saturday, January 27 at 3PM for a curatorial walk-through of our current exhibitions. Meet exhibition curators, mingle with artists and learn about diverse creative processes.

The event begins at 3PM and is free and open to the community.

The afternoon will begin with esteemed artist, educator and curator Kristine Schomaker guiding us through TAG’s annual L.A. Open exhibition. Guests will learn about Schomaker’s process in selecting artworks, vision, challenges and inspiration. Additionally, the exhibition’s “Best of Show” artists will be invited to speak about their works. L.A. Open features diverse artworks from 60 Los Angeles artists. Schomaker selected the artworks from over 600 submissions. This discussion will begin at 3PM.

Following, fine art photographer Eric Renard will guide guests through Small Things, a juried exhibition on view in TAG’s Sky Gallery. This showcase, juried by Renard & Kenneth Rooney, is a collaboration with the California Art League. Selected artworks highlight the small, precise details that are often overlooked. Ornate brushstrokes, shadow, highlight, texture, color and composition are emphasized elements throughout the exhibition. Selected artists will also speak about their involvement and artistic journeys.

The afternoon is organized by senior gallerists Laila Alamiri & Mark Bade. Alamiri was the installation coordinator for the exhibition, and will moderate the discussion. Bade will film the event for TAG’s documentation archives.

We look forward to seeing you at The Artists Gallery!
