About
Katie Moore is a graduate from the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts where she studied cinema and media studies and animation. Raised in San Diego, CA she has been creating art since childhood and draws inspiration from the natural beauty of her hometown and home state of California. Outside of her passion for fine art oil painting, she also works on illustration and animation work. Artist Statement
With my work I endeavor to inspire thought, beautifully. At a young age, I developed arthritis and joint pain. My pain requires me to move through the world differently, to slow down, and I like to observe the little beautiful things around me when I do. I create work that uses the beauty of the natural world and human spectral figures in order to encourage contemplation while inspiring an appreciation of nature. The human like figures among the nature invite exploration of the intertwined individuality, yet universality of the human experience. The composition, colors, and un-manicured chaos of plant life compares the unruly world of emotion and the mind with the calm persistence of nature. As an artist based in Los Angeles, the concrete jungle and city of those chasing their dreams, I'm drawn to contradict constructed human pursuits with innate earthly beauty that is so often hidden, forgotten, abandoned, or willfully ignored. It invites a question of what other beautiful aspects of life, both earthly and human, are being supplanted?
