Now based in Los Angeles, Garo maintains a dual practice as both an artist and a dentist, balancing a scientific profession with a deeply intuitive creative process. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to painting as a means of exploration, expression, and continuity.
Artist Statement
My work is rooted in oil painting and guided by instinct rather than predetermined meaning. I do not begin with a clear narrative or subject in mind, nor do I seek to explain what is being painted as it unfolds. The act of painting itself becomes the point of entry—an intuitive process driven by necessity rather than intention.
What emerges on the canvas is not planned but discovered. Painting is not something I analyze or resolve; it is something I must do. Through repetition, gesture, and material engagement, the work exists as a record of presence rather than explanation.
